About Debs Clothier

Celebration of Elegance, Authenticity, and Identity.

Hi, I’m Deborah Yisa, the Creative Director of Roots and Glamz by Debs, home to DebsClothier.

The DebsClothier journey started with a deep love for African prints – which to me are vibrant, bold, and rich in meaning. I wore them proudly to work, events, church, and even places where people wouldn’t typically wear African prints. I remember a friend once asking, “Why do you wear African prints so often? Aren’t they just for special occasions?” That moment sparked something in me. I knew I wanted to challenge the stereotypes and make African fashion an everyday expression that is stylish, wearable, and full of pride.

I began designing and recreating my own styles, infusing each piece with my lifestyle and personality.

Alongside my passion for fashion, I’ve always had a strong love for interiors. For a while, I even considered becoming an interior designer. Life, however, led me into a fulfilling career in HR, driven by my love for people and purpose. But the creative fire never left.

By day, I worked in HR. By night, I was a lifestyle blogger, styling pieces I designed with local tailors. Over time, I began collaborating with brands, and after more than six years of blogging, I knew it was time to build something truly my own and pour my creativity into a brand I was passionate about.

DebsClothier didn’t start overnight. It evolved slowly and intentionally from a simple ready-to-wear idea into a timeless brand that celebrates women from all walks of life. Our mission is to make African-inspired fashion inclusive, modest, and sustainable; designed to fit and flatter women of every race, culture, and background.

To complement the fashion line, we launched our sister brand, DebsHomeTrove, on Instagram, bringing the essence of African culture into the home. From beddings and kitchenware to souvenirs and decorative pieces, we help you add vibrant touches of heritage to your everyday spaces.

DebsClothier is where fashion meets lifestyle, with African culture at the heart of everything we do. It’s a celebration of elegance, authenticity, and identity which is reflected in our clothing, interiors, and community.

Rooted in tradition and inspired by modernity, we’re proud to reflect the beauty of African heritage in every piece.

We can’t wait for you to be part of our community.
